Casinos are springing up all over Berlin, and I spotted this man having a smoke in the doorway of a new one near where we live. It was, of course, his moustache that drew me to him. Since he was wearing a shirt and tie, I assumed he was not a customer, and asked if he worked there.
He gave me a nod of the head.
"Are you the manager?" I asked.
He replied in a definite Eastern European accent - maybe Polish, or Russian, or Czech.
"I am not 'the' manager, but I manage."
"What exactly do you manage?"
"Oh," he said, "I manage a little bit here, and a little bit there, and a little bit everywhere."
When I asked to take his photo, he flipped his cigarette away and gave me this face.
